1. Kickapoo Cavern State Park

Kickapoo Cavern State Park is located a little over 100 miles west of the Kerrville city center and can be reached in about two hours by car via routes TX-41 and Ranch Road 674. 2. Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site

Established in the 1960s and featuring a large visitor center with a permanent exhibition on the life of President Lyndon B. Spanning an area of almost 750 acres, this place is located about 40 miles northeast of downtown Kerrville and can be reached in just 45 minutes by car via routes TX-16 and US-290.

Besides the visitor center and the exhibition, Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site offers modern facilities including a fishing spot on the banks of the Pedernales River, as well as a swimming beach, tennis and basketball courts, a series of multi-use trails, and small herds of white-tailed deer, Texas longhorn cattle, and American bison.

3. Kerrville-Schreiner State Park

Encompassing an area of a little over 500 acres, Kerrville-Schreiner State Park is located just three and a half miles southeast of the city center and can be reached in less than 10 minutes by car via Memorial Boulevard. A popular weekend destination among locals, this place sits on the western banks of the Guadalupe River and features kayak and canoe rental shops, fishing spots, picnic areas, and a butterfly garden.
