Go Hiking

There are many different hiking routes in the area, and one of the most popular is the six-mile Kerrville River Trail. The trail follows alongside the Guadalupe River. It is a well-signposted route that isn’t too strenuous, but there are a number of picnic areas should you need a rest. Keep your eyes open for the information boards which will tell you more facts about the environment and local wildlife. You might even catch sight of some wild deer!

Enjoy Camping

There is a pleasant campground located in the 517-acre Kerrville Schreiner Park. The site offers RV spaces with electricity hookups, standardized tent camping spots, and rentable cabins. Take a look at the park map online and if there is a specific area that you would like to stay in, you can reserve it in advance. Onsite amenities include a playground, laundromat, showers, BBQ facilities, and an amphitheater.

Play a Round of Golf

Originally designed in 1932, the Scott Schreiner Golf Course has a par 70. The design includes a number of sneaky bends and slopes to tackle. The fairway opens up to views of the tree-covered hills, so you can enjoy the scenery as you play. In total, the course covers 6,453 yards across 18 holes. There is a pro-shop onsite, a driving range for swing practice, and professional lessons.

Hire a Kayak or Canoe

At Kerryville Kayak and Canoe, you can rent solo or two-person kayaks and canoes. There are also a number of paddleboards for hire. If it is your first time using the equipment, you might be interested in the guided half-day river trip. You’ll be given full guidance on how to use the equipment safely.  This activity will give you the opportunity to see the stunning nature of the Guadalupe River from a whole new perspective.

Start Fishing

There are two local fishing spots in Kerrville. At Flatrock Park, you can enjoy open fishing anywhere by the water edge. However, the best spot is in the inlet at the far end of the park. There, the waters remain calm and undisturbed by other water users. At Louise Hays Park, head towards the dam which is regularly stocked with trout.
