1. The Lakehouse
As the name suggests, this husband- and wife-owned restaurant sits right on the lake with beautiful views and indoor and outdoor dining. Since 1989, they have provided the community with fabulous homemade cuisine. Start the table off with the catfish gumbo, the Lakehouse sampler, or the fried mushrooms. Then have a baked potato or salmon salad as the chefs prepare your catfish and shrimp, clam strips, Lakehouse sirloin, or mushroom steak.
For the little ones, they offer a number of options, including chicken strips, steak fingers, catfish strips, burgers, mini corn dogs, and more. Each comes with a side, like fries, salad, or green beans, and a choice of a beverage, all for under $7. They are located at 1655 Junction Hwy, and they are open every day.
2. Save Inn
Visit this restaurant when you want to get your day started off right. This modest diner serves traditional breakfast dishes, such as steak and eggs, steak rancheros, eggs benedict, egg sandwiches, pancakes, omelets, and even breakfast tacos. We suggest the Spanish or Western omelet, while vegetarians will enjoy the veggie or cheese omelet.
The South of the Border options are also tasty. Try the Migas, which are eggs with corn tortillas, refried beans, pico de Gallo, cheese, and hot sauce. The kids will enjoy the French toast or the flapjacks. Lunch here is also worth the visit. They serve juicy burgers, sandwiches, salads, fish and chips, pork chops, and more. 3. Mamacita’s
When you crave great Mexican food, Mamacita’s doesn’t disappoint. Munch on the chips and chili con queso while looking through the lengthy menu. For your main meal, we like the beef enchiladas, the Mamacita’s salad, the jalapeno shrimp brochette, the bean chalupas, the tacos al carbon, the chili relleno, the pollo asado, the vegetarian combo, or the veggie fajitas.
For the kids, order a non-alcoholic margarita with a cheese quesadilla, a bean burrito, a chicken fajita taco, or a cheese chalupa. Mamacita’s is open every day and they can be found at 215 Junction Hwy.
