Museum of Western Art

The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville is an art museum dedicated to sculptures and paintings that showcase life in the American West. Their permanent collection includes pieces from artists like Robert Lougheed, Frank Hampton, and Bill Nebeker. In The Children’s Gallery: Journey West exhibit, you can follow the travels of a family heading to the West, through the eyes of the daughter and the diary she keeps. Another popular exhibit at the museum is the Artist of the Month program, which features a living regional artist who creates Western-themed art.

Kerr Arts and Cultural Center

The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center is situated in downtown Kerrville and represents more than 600 member artists. The exhibits at the cultural center change regularly, so you always have a chance to see something different. Even better, admission is always free, which makes it easy to stop by and see what’s new anytime you want. While you’re at the cultural center, make sure you save some time to check out the gift shop so you can explore the handcrafted items made by member artists.

Cailloux Theater

If you’re looking for a great place to catch a live performance in Kerrville, Cailloux Theater is the ideal place. This performing arts theater hosts a variety of performances throughout the year, including plays, concerts, and ballets. The theater is also home to Symphony of the Hills, which comprises around 75 players, most from the Kerrville area. Every year, the symphony holds four unique and captivating performances at the theater.

River’s Edge Gallery

Art lovers in Kerrville shouldn’t miss an opportunity to visit River’s Edge Gallery. This gallery has an extensive collection of more than 50 artists ranging from traditional to contemporary. On top of that, the gallery has a variety of artist categories, including museum artists. To be included in this category, artists must-have pieces in an accredited museum’s permanent collection. Other categories at the gallery include established artists, who are award-winning and full-time artists, as well as specialized artists who offer a unique style of artwork.

Playhouse 2000

Playhouse 2000 is the community theater group in Kerrville that presents a full schedule of plays and musicals every year, including everything from young talent in the Youth Theater to Shakespeare in the Park during the summer. Most of the Playhouse 2000 performances are held at the VK Garage Theater. However, you might also have a chance to see some select performances at the Cailloux Theater.
