It’s Texas, so once you start talking about barbecue, everyone has an opinion. We have some, too, so we want to recommend what we think are the best barbecue places in Kerrville, TX. Fortunately, the interior of your Jeep Wrangler can hold up to a drop or two of BBQ sauce, so load up the family and head to one of these spots.

Bill’s Bar-B-Que

Bill’s has a simple name, but the BBQ here is anything but. They’ve been serving up delicious, stick-to-your-ribs goodness since 1982 and are open from 11AM to 7PM Tuesday through Saturday. You’ll find them at 1909 Junction Hwy. And just think about this: as the oldest BBQ place in the area, they’ve been seasoning their BBQ pits for decades, meaning their meat has crave-able flavor no one else can match, in our opinion.

We love their brisket sandwich, their pulled pork plate, and their ribs. Their small plates come with one meat, their medium with two, and their large with three. Plates come with two sides, onions, pickles, and bread. We also recommend you get a bottle of their BBQ sauce to take home. Don’t forget their Bull n’ Beans Frito Pie or the stuffed baked potato. You can get their meats in family packs or by the pound, too.

Backwoods BBQ

Backwoods is located at 320 FM 2093 in Fredericksburg, but it’s worth the short drive. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday and open at 11 AM Wednesday through Sunday. They close at 8PM most days but at 2PM on Sunday. Just be aware that they will close early if they sell out of BBQ. This means you want to get there early on the weekend.

Their briskets are absolutely delectable, cooked over mesquite. Their pork and beef ribs are also great. They fall off the bone and stick to your ribs at the same time. We’re also huge fans of their turkey sandwiches, which come with your choice of sides like potato salad, pasta salad, mac and cheese, cheesy green beans, and much more. You also don’t want to miss their homemade cakes and pies, which vary from week to week.

Eaker Barbecue

Voted one of the top 50 BBQ places in Texas by TexasMonthly, this is a place people will drive miles and miles to get to. They’re found at 607 W Main St. in Fredericksburg, and they open from 11AM until 3PM from Wednesday through Saturday. This place is a great marriage of down-home Texas BBQ and spicy, bright Korean BBQ. It’s really the best of all worlds.

They offer prime rib brisket and gochujang pork ribs, amazing turkey, and jalapeno cheddar sausage, among other things. But what really makes them stand out are their sides. They have the things you’d expect, like potato salad and coleslaw, but also homemade kimchi, borracho beans, kimchi fried rice, and a Korean cucumber salad. Don’t leave without trying their BOOzy banana pudding.

Nothing hits the spot like great barbecue, and these are places we love to try. When you’re done with the brisket, visit Crenwelge Motors for service or to get your next great vehicle.
