The Big Horn Night Edition comes with 20-inch black aluminum wheels, and the Laramie version has similar 22-inch wheels. The museums are excellent places to spend time when the weather isn't the greatest. more The Museum of Western Art The Museum of Western Art is on Bandera Highway. They are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is $4 for military members with ID. Students pay $5, adults pay $7, while children 8 and under are free — so are museum members. The last Saturday of the month is Family Free Day for Kerr County residents. You can tour the location and enjoy different activities for free. During your visit, you'll enjoy several permanent and temporary exhibits. The permanent collection includes 150 sculptures and 250 paintings depicting different scenes in Western history. Introduce your children to the journey west in the Children's Gallery. They can use the Journey to the West interactive exhibit and follow a family as they make the journey. Beyond its regular pieces, the museum holds an annual roundup every year that brings together more than 40 artists at the same time. You'll get the chance to enjoy pieces and possibly bring them home during this event. The 2020 Roundup is from September 24 – October 31. Slate Gray Gallery Enjoy a variety of local art when you visit the Slate Gray Gallery on Earl Garrett Street. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m – 3 p.m. The gallery focuses on the work of local and regional artists using techniques such as traditional realism. There are several exhibits held throughout the year with a specific focus. Beyond the art, there is also jewelry on display for you to enjoy. If you decide to purchase a piece of art while you are in the gallery, the money from the sale stays in the community. It supports local arts programs. Kerr Arts and Cultural Center The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center is inside the iconic Post Office building on Earl Garret Street in Historic downtown. It is close to City Hall. The center welcomes artists of all abilities, from all mediums Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4p.m. The focus here is supporting Hill Country artists through a variety of exhibitions and classes. There is an annual Texas Furniture Makers Show where artists from around the state show off their work.
