Beyond its regular pieces, the museum holds an annual roundup every year that brings together more than 40 artists at the same time. You'll get the chance to enjoy pieces and possibly bring them home during this event. The 2020 Roundup is from September 24 – October 31. Slate Gray Gallery Enjoy a variety of local art when you visit the Slate Gray Gallery on Earl Garrett Street. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m – 3 p.m. The gallery focuses on the work of local and regional artists using techniques such as traditional realism. There are several exhibits held throughout the year with a specific focus. Beyond the art, there is also jewelry on display for you to enjoy. If you decide to purchase a piece of art while you are in the gallery, the money from the sale stays in the community. It supports local arts programs. Kerr Arts and Cultural Center The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center is inside the iconic Post Office building on Earl Garret Street in Historic downtown. It is close to City Hall. The center welcomes artists of all abilities, from all mediums Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4p.m. The focus here is supporting Hill Country artists through a variety of exhibitions and classes. Visiting the museum area is free for everyone. Don't forget to check out the handmade goods in the gift shop. Beyond the regular classes and exhibitions, the center also puts on a few special events during the year. There is an annual Texas Furniture Makers Show where artists from around the state show off their work.
