The Ram 2500 HD pickup truck is strong, capable, and in the higher trim levels, provides passengers with plush, upscale ride. For 2022, the 2500 comes standard with the latest Uconnect infotainment system, and there's a new Silver Edition for the Big Horn. Also, for 2022, the Power Wagon gains a Level 3 Equipment Package with black exterior accents and upgraded technology.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Ram 2500 Tradesman has 17-inch steel wheels while bumping up to the Big Horn gets you 18-inch chrome steel wheels and heated side exterior mirrors. Step up to the Laramie for LED fog lights and power-folding side mirrors, or to the Limited Longhorn for LED lighting in the bed, remote tailgate release, chrome running boards, and memory settings for the side mirrors. The top-level Limited has 20-inch wheels, power-deployable running boards, and adjustable tie-down hooks in the bed.
The Power Wagon is the off-road capable Ram 2500. It has black exterior badging, powder-coated front and rear bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an off-road suspension.
Engine
The base engine for the Ram 2500 is a 6.4-liter V-8. It generates 410 horsepower and gets 429 pound-feet of torque. A 6.7-liter turbo six-cylinder diesel engine is an available option and will get you 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Both Ram 2500 engines use a six-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with the turbodiesel engine and the tow package, it can pull up to 16,870 pounds and haul up to 3,240 pounds in the bed. With the standard gas V-8, it can tow 14,370 pounds and still haul the 3,240 pounds.
Interior
With so many trims to choose from, you can get everything from just the basics to luxury accommodations in the Ram 2500. The larger cabs have room for up to six people and includes features such as cloth upholstery in the lower trims and leather in the Laramie and above. These higher trims also have heated and power-adjustable front seats as well as a heated steering wheel. The top two trims have all these features in the cabin and, in addition, have a heated second row, ventilated front seats, and driver's seat memory settings. Technology features in the Ram 2500 include an 8.4-inch touch screen in the Big Horn and the other midlevel trims. The high-end Limited has a 12-inch touch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come in the Laramie and above, and these also have an upgraded driver information display and extra USB ports. The Limited also adds a wireless charging pad.
Safety Features
Every Ram 2500 has a rearview camera, traction and stability control, and a full suite of air bags. Upgrading to the Limited gets you a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and if you add the optional Safety Group package to any trim, it comes with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with mitigation, lane-departure warning and mitigation, and the blind-spot monitor. It also has a digital rearview mirror that allows the driver to see out of the back even if you have a fully loaded cargo area.
