2022 Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most off-road capable vehicles you can find, and it just keeps getting better. For the 2022 model year, it received some small changes. The Rubicon has an upgraded axle ratio, and the Sahara and Rubicon now have remote proximity keyless entry. There are also some tech upgrades for several trims and a new exterior color option.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Wrangler Sport has 17-inch steel wheels, fog lights, and tow hooks. The Sport S adds to this with alloy wheels and power door locks. A step up to the four-door Sahara gets you 18-inch wheels, a body-colored grille, and fender flares. The Rubicon adds all-terrain tires, 17-inch wheels, and heavy-duty Dana 44 axles. The Rubicon also adds rock rails and extra off-road equipment. Next in the lineup, the Rubicon 392 has Fox shocks, a three-piece hardtop, a 2-inch suspension lift, and LED headlights.
Engine
Jeep offers the Wrangler with five different engine options. The base is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 285 horsepower, but you can get more power with the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that generates 270 horsepower. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 gets you 260 horsepower, and if you choose the Rubicon 392, it comes with a 6.4-liter V-8 that puts out 470 horsepower. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers 375 horsepower.
Performance
The Wrangler can tackle almost any off-road terrain and make it look easy. The body-on-frame construction is rugged, and the optional low-range gearing makes it capable of traversing over rocks and boulders. When equipped with the available tow package, it can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Interior
There's room for four people to ride in the two-door Wrangler. The cabin starts with the basics and features a washable interior, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, manual glass windows, and a full-length floor console for storage. Moving up through the trims adds features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, automatic climate control, and leather upholstery. The Rubicon adds ambient interior lighting, and the Rubicon 392 comes with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
The technology features start with a 5-inch touch screen in the Sport, with a 7-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Sport S and Sahara. The larger touch screen uses the Uconnect 4 infotainment system, and depending on the trim, you can also get an upgraded Alpine stereo system, an 8.4-inch touch screen, and the Uconnect 4C infotainment system. A Wi-Fi hot spot is an available feature along with satellite radio and a 120-volt household-style power outlet.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Wrangler comes standard with a rearview camera. The optional Safety Group adds a blind-spot monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert. Driver aids such as forward collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam headlights are also available. You can also get Jeep's ParkSense rear parking assist system that uses sensors to alert the driver if the Wrangler comes too close to an obstacle while backing up.
